Shake off those winter doldrums by enjoying a hot fashion show complete with tasty cocktails and heavy hors d’oeuvres, all while contributing to a wonderful cause!

The 8th annual Compassion Through Fashion event takes place on Saturday, February 3, and is an inspiring design competition and fundraiser benefiting New Directions of Horry County—a nonprofit dedicated to ending homelessness, poverty, and addiction.

Presented by Maguire Law Firm, CTF showcases one-of-a-kind design entries made from reused, repurposed, or recyclable materials that are inspiringly handcrafted by community members, groups, and businesses. To create a design entry, local artists turn items that are typically thrown away, broken, or forgotten—materials such as water bottles, CDs, trash bags, receipts, coffee filters, newspapers, etc.—into incredible, fashionable outfits.

Featuring a judged fashion show, silent auction, drinks, food, and more, this engaging event brings together the best creatives on the Grand Strand, for fun, fashion, and the knowledge that proceeds are providing basic needs, connections to resources, and community support for local people in need, thanks to New Directions.
Last year’s event raised $106,000, according to Elizabeth Schlueter, development director of the organization. Tickets are $75, and tend to sell out quickly, she says. Go to helpnewdirections.org/ctf to purchase yours!
