The Pawleys Island Festival of Music & Art brings a burst of culture to the Grand Strand

Kicking off at the end of September, the Pawleys Island Festival of Music & Art has everything from great music to delicious food and wine to interactive art performances. The events will begin on September 30 with Chalk Under the Oaks and the Seaside Palette and Wet Paint Sale. Chalk Under the Oaks brings the 16th century tradition of Italian street painting to the Lowcountry, while Seaside Palette will see more than 50 artists gathering in the Georgetown Historic District with their easels and brushes to paint the scenery and capture the culture. This will be followed by a chance to purchase these works of art.

On October 5, you are cordially invited to attend the 18th year of the Pawleys Island Food & Wine Gala. A fundraiser for the festival, sample more than 100 wines from around the world and enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres and desserts prepared by some of the area’s best chef. The evening will also include a silent auction.

October 6 will be for Artrageous, an interactive performance that combines art, music, theater, singing, dancing and audience participation. The show will culminate in a gallery of fabulous finished paintings.

Be sure not to miss some of the impressive musical performances as well, including Grammy Award winners Delbert McClinton and Melissa Manchester. There are many other great artists taking part in the festival, so visit the website for a full schedule of events. Whether you sip some wine, indulge in some art or listen to some excellent tunes as a part of this yearly festival, you’re sure to be pleased.
