Quick Bites: Clearly Fuzzy

A cocktail with a sporting twist

Last year, professional golfer, Master’s champion, and U.S. Open winner Fuzzy Zoeller decided to take a “spirited” venture outside of golf. Today, Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka is being billed as one of the smoothest vodkas on the market. That smoothness has been no gimme, though. The process behind the recipe is highly refined: A portion of each vodka batch is separated, aged for two months in oak barrels, and blended back in. Then, the vodka is filtered ten times—the same number of Zoeller’s PGA Tour victories—before being bottled. “I’m a vodka drinker,” Zoeller chuckles, “so I decided to launch a premium brand of vodka to share with my fans so we can all drink together.” Grand Strand Magazine jumped on the bandwagon and set out to create a special golf-themed cocktail to honor one of golf’s greatest personalities. Grand Strand asked Chef Curtis Wolf and bartender Mike Graves to develop the new namesake drink—The Fuzzy Green Jacket. The “green jacket” reference is a nod to Fuzzy’s victory at The Master’s where the winner is awarded a green sportcoat. The green jacket combined with Fuzzy’s vodka makes for a perfect pairing.
