Winyah Bay Heritage Festival celebrated in Georgetown

Winyah Bay provides many resources to the land surrounding it, which is rich in culture. Traditions, like hunting, fishing and knowing the wildlife were all important parts of the past. Since these aspects are still valuable today, it is the mission of the Winyah Bay Heritage Festival to keep them alive.

The festival will feature fishing guides who will share tactics and teach techniques, a hunting simulator for getting in some practice and the Palmetto Dock Dogs, a group that demonstrates canine jumping and retrieving (in addition to being an adorable fan favorite).

There will also be activities and exhibits like the Birds of Prey, a duck calling clinic, decoy painting and a new demonstration called  “Snakes in Your Own Backyard.” A variety of exhibitors and artists featuring everything from pottery to duck calls will offer their goods for sale.

All proceeds from the festival benefit the Georgetown Historical Society, which supports the Georgetown County Museum. Take this chance to celebrate history and explore the traditions of preservation, art, hunting, fishing and more.
