Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union is not just another bank—it is a member-owned financial cooperative. Profits are returned to accountholders through competitive rates, lower fees, innovative services and local, personal service. From savings, checking, youth and Christmas Club accounts to credit cards, vehicle loans, business loans and mortgages, Carolina Trust provides members with a lower-cost banking alternative.

GSM: What are your goals for your company?
CT:
Carolina Trust recently celebrated our 60th anniversary. We want to continue to be “a better way of banking” for decades to come. Our goal is to provide financial services for all age demographics and lifestyles with a focus on young and first-time borrowers as well as those who may be developing or re-building their credit history. That is why we offer products such as free checking, first-time home and auto loans and free financial education and counseling services. Additionally, our goal is to continue to improve upon our digital banking services that impact mobile banking, payment options and online loan and account applications.

GSM: How do you stand out within your industry?
CT:
We go above and beyond to deliver a positive and personal experience for our members. We encourage borrowers to shop for vehicles that fit their lifestyle and budget, so a car payment does not consume their monthly earnings. Most banks charge cardholders a balance transfer fee to refinance third-party credit card balances to their credit card, but Carolina Trust chooses not to have this fee associated with our credit cards. Likewise, many borrowers report that the mortgage fees we charge to process their home loans and home equity lines of credit are some of the lowest in the area.

GSM: What would you like to share with readers?
CT:
Our mortgage team provides fixed and adjustable rate mortgages, construction and land loans, our First Time Homebuyer program, and VA, FHA and USDA loans. Whether someone is house hunting for the first time or a seasoned home loan borrower, Carolina Trust seeks to make our applicant’s goal of homeownership a reality. When you see our flag, we are in the neighborhood throwing a housewarming party for one of our members, compliments of their Credit Union.
