For only $500, a modular home designed to accommodate eight people can be built and shipped to disaster-stricken Haiti. Once the sections are constructed, they will be stacked, banded and shipped to Haiti, where they can be assembled on site in two hours. Shelter Haiti, a national aid initiative, works to provide and assemble these homes. The Myrtle Beach branch of the project needs money and time. Community members can form a team and spend a few hours constructing the shelters. To get involved, go online or call for more information. Contact Ed Jackson, (843)446-1931, www.shelterhaiti.com
